Sweater Pillow Set Rust Fair Isle
You've seen them at Pottery Barn, Ballard, and all your favorite decor shops. Knitted pillows are very much the decor statement right now. I've taken the idea and am using up cycled sweaters to make them.
These covers will fit 14 and 16-inch pillow inserts. I recommend using feather inserts for a softer pillow and easier insertion into this style cover. Please note these covers actually measure a bit smaller than the insert recommended. They are cut to the insert size, but when sewn lose a small portion of their dimension. This insures a plumper pillow.
A traditional Fair Isle style sweater of corals, rust, orange, yellow and green was the beginning of this Sweater Pillow set.
The original sweater for this set had a front zipper. I have redesigned it a bit and incorporated a faux button band with some pretty pewter buttons on the smaller of the two covers. The larger cover matches the smaller except it does not have the button band and a bit of the sweater's original ribbing is used.
Both covers are backed with a coordinating poly blend fabric in rust, which you can see in Picture 3.
Please note these covers are made from an up cycled sweater, not a new one. The knitted fabric of these covers is from a 55% ramie and 45% cotton sweater.
These pillow covers are not just for decor, but made to be used. I have machine washed and dried the sweater and the fabric used to back the covers. All inside edges have been serged with an overlapping stitch for strength. Closure is with a "fold-over" panel in the back.
This set will be perfect with your cottage, cabin, country chic or lake house decor.
Machine wash and dry, cold water.
This listing is for a set of two pillow covers only, not the pillow inserts.
